活潑的莎曼珊從美國來到倫敦學習小提琴，她的英國男友伊安卻是一個專注於工作的年輕主管，他深愛著莎曼珊卻不懂如何分享愛的感覺。兩個個性全然不同的人雖 然相愛，在一起的感覺卻變得越來越單調。

某日清晨，莎曼珊發現伊安的重要公文遺留在家，她急忙好心地送到辦公室，卻不巧打擾了正在進行重要會議的伊安，也害他失去了一個重要客戶。伊安於 是開始懷疑自己與莎曼珊的親密關係是否應該繼續…。

當晚伊安搭上計程車前去參加莎曼珊的畢業公演時，計程車司機的一番話卻改變了伊安的想法，他了解到自己不能沒有莎曼珊。

但一切似乎已經太遲，當他對莎曼珊表明心意時，莎曼珊卻早已對這份感情失望…，她難過地離開了伊安。就在伊安猶豫是否要追回莎曼珊時，一場車禍帶 走了莎曼珊，讓目睹車禍發生的伊安沉痛不已。

這場悲劇撕碎了伊安的心，讓他深深自責自己的輕慢疏忽。如果他能不這麼自私就好了！如果他能早點讓她知道自己的感覺就好了！如果他能有機會讓一切 重新來過就好了！… 後悔不已的伊安能得到第二次的機會嗎? 如果能再愛一次，伊安會怎樣改變這一切呢?
